London Lions say farewell to their Centre player Derek Hall in October 2016. Derek is moving to Taiwan to play basketball there.

Sheffield Sharks beat London Lions 101-86 in Sheffield on Friday 28 October. Kevin Moyo were unable to play due to injury. Great performances by Kai Williams, Zaire Taylor, Rashad Hassan, Alex Owumi, captain Joe Ikhinmwin, and Jamal Williams who had to pull out midway with a calf injury.

Nigel Lloyd is London Lions'  head coach, and was recently the Barbados national coach. Vince Macaulay has stepped back from coaching to concentrate on his role as owner of London Lions.

London Lions home venue is the Copper Box Arena in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park Stratford, London E20 3HB.This epic basketball arena should be re-named The Lions' Den.

Amber Charles

A British basketball hero who was one of the key youth representatives in the bid for the London 2012 Olympics. She went on to study psychology on a basketball scholarship at Tennessee Temple University in the States. Recently she wrote a scathing letter to David Cameron to complain about UK Sport's withdrawal of funding from basketball, which puts Amber's chances of representing Team GB in basketball at the Rio 2016 Olympics in jeopardy.

London's SportsDock Basketball courts

Team USA used this venue as their training ground during the London 2012 Olympics. This UEL (University of East London) facility is a fantastic boost for basketball in London. Basketball is fast becoming the lead sport for UEL, and the new UEL full-time team coach JP Campbell will consolidate that reputation.

NBA Basketball (United States)

LeBron James is one of the Cleveland Cavaliers biggest stars. The 6 foot 8 inch (and 250 lbs) James now earns over $30 million a year.

London Lions

London Lions is London's professional basketball team. They're based at the Copperbox Arena, Queen Elizabeth Park, Stratford, London E20 3HB. The driving force of London Lions is Vince Macaulay, who is on the board of the British Basketball League (BBL) representing the London Lions franchise, which he owns. Each franchise owner in the UK has a seat on the BBL board.

London Lions ended the 2015/16 season ranked 6th in the British Basketball League with 16 wins and 17 losses. So far this season (2016/17) they are in 3rd place, with 3 wins and no losses.

English Basketball League

Not to be confused with the British Basketball League (BBL) , the EBL has 3 mens' divisions, with some strong representation by London clubs.

Mens' Division 1  (2015/16):

London Lituanica ended the season in 5th position, with a total of 16 wins and 10 losses.

Mens' Division 2 (2015/16):

London Greenhouse Pioneers ended the season ranked 3rd, with 16 wins and 6 losses.
East London All Stars achieved 6th position with 13 wins and 9 losses.
Brixton Topcats ended the season in 9th place, with 6 wins and 15 losses.
London Westside came 10th with 5 wins and 17 losses.
Eastside Eagles ended the season ranked 12th with 2 wins and 20 losses.
